A Fun Year Well what a fun-packed first year for the 1stManea Guides!
It all started on the 30th of March when they had their first taster session. This went well and so they became officially known as 1st Manea Guides on 4th May 2011, and that's when their fun started!
Lots of Activities
The Guides get together every Wednesday in term time, and also enjoyed a joint Guide and Brownie Campfire, followed later by a visit to Chessington World of Adventures, where the girls and leaders had fun making their promise and having a go on all the mind-blowing rides. They then took part in Manea Marathon alongside the Brownies and the local community, raising money for their chosen charities. Their efforts were recognised by the local paper which printed the story. However it didn't stop there for 1st Manea Guides, as there have been two tombolas and a Doddington sleepover with Guides from all over Cambridgeshire. At Christmas they also put on their own Cinderella concert.
Other recent events include a Dodge-Ball tournament which raised £300 for the British Heart Foundation.
The 1st Manea Guides continue to have fun raising money for many different charities, specially when they know they have succeeded. They have had a great year and are proud of the work they have done and thank everyone for their continued support and donations.
In 2012 we have continued the excitement with activities such as Climbing and Archery. We have also found the long lost Manea Guide flag and Best Patrol Cup from the original unit which opened in 1977. On the 9th May 2012 we celebrated our first Birthday with a party. Look out for more 1st Manea Guide events as you never know what they will be up to next.

Missing Flag Found!
Exciting Discovery for Manea Guides After 35 years, the long-lost Manea Guides flag has been rediscovered among many props in the Manea School storage cupboard. This flag, first used on 22nd February 1977, was used on all special Guiding occasions until it mysteriously disappeared. Little did anyone know that it would - or could - be rediscovered.
The flag was found in surprisingly good condition, and will now be used in modern day Guiding activities, such as Guide Promises (enrolments). Now the Guides and their leaders are investigating more ways to display and 'show off' their flag. In future, the errant flag is to be kept in a much safer place and will be in use for many years to come!
